Thread: The Official Dubstep Discussion!

    Default The Official Dubstep Discussion!

Welcome to the Dubstep discussion! The old one has been buried long ago, so there's no reason to bump it back into existance.

The following description was not copied from Wikipedia: Dubstep (if you didn't already know by now) is a popular genre of Electronic Dance music, and is one of the more extreme EDM genres. You may hear it and raves, house parties, concerts and basements. Created in the late 90s as an amateur mix between Dub and 2-step, it has since gone mainstream and is awesome. It's usually defined by "filthy" basslines, sampling (often high or low pitched robot-type sounds on crack), and wobble bass drum patterns (associated with the buildup of the drop).

Examples of Dubstep artists are Skream, Excision, Borgore, Flux Pavillion, Knife Party, Doctor P and many more.

If you're a fan of Dubstep, looking for more Dubstep artists, or simply want to talk about it, then this is the thread.

The first time my friend showed me a "drop", I laughed my guts out... then realized people actually listened to this and laughed even harder.

Alright so let's talk about dubstep then.

I like dubstep. I don't know a lot of dubstep artists because the genre is somewhat underground. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Mt. Eden Dubstep and xKore. Sierra Leone has got to be my all time favorite dubstep song. I feel that it is the only song ever that can utilize all components of my car's stereo sound system. I just love the constant bass throughout the song which causes my car to mildly vibrate. Now if only I had enough money to buy a sub...

I'm not a big fan of dubstep remixes, but I did hear a dubstep remix of Paradise by Coldplay and I enjoyed that a lot.

Dubstep is pretty much mainstream, but that's only select artists. Like 98% of Dubstep is underground.

It's only mainstream online. So it's not actually mainstream.

One of the only mainstream Dubstep artists is Skrillex, and he isn't even really Dubstep, but more Complextro and electro.
