Why are you still here?

You could've left JV the second you registered, and it would be just one of these forums that you don't actually frequent. But if you're reading this it probably means you're active and post every once in a while. But why?

Why don't you leave JV right now? What makes it so you want to stick around? Perhaps you have friends here, or it's just a boredom killer. Maybe it's the only forum you actually enjoy.

As for myself, I suppose it's something I do to pass the time. Even though I don't even post that much, I open a random tab every now and then, come over here, read a few threads and go back to whatever. JV is also the only way I can contact a few users, and I'd rather not forget about them.

JV was the first forum where I actually felt involved with the community, all that time ago. None of that really rubs off anymore, because most if not all of my old friends are long-since gone, but nearly all of my internet "friends", or people I talk with, game with, whatever, I met from JV.

I've tried leaving, but I always come back eventually. My only salvation was the two-year period in which I was permabanned, where I almost stopped visiting entirely. I think the real problem is that my daily life is so utterly boring- I do any chores I'm required, then sit around sifting through reddit, 4chan, and when those get old, JV. It's something I can always fall back on. I check this site at least once daily, hoping for an interesting thread, an old member returning, some sort of drama, flame war, raid, anything, and usually sign back off disappointed. This place has really changed.

I know at this point I'm older than most members, don't really know any members with a user # over 10,000, and am out of touch with the community, so I don't know why I can't leave. Maybe (read as definitely) I'll get myself permabanned again someday so I can focus on bigger and better things.

There are also a few people who keep me coming back, but I'd prefer not to elaborate on that issue

JV used to be, for me, a forum for Jiggmin's games, and I liked to use it as so for a while. I brought it upon myself, very foolishly, to make it more than that - not because I think the more social aspect of the forum is bad, but because I myself am not really the type of person to develop a character on JV. In the end, I've ended up developing a connection to this website because I enjoy observing this website. I'm not a gamer here or an avid community person - I've just grown accustomed to treating this as a home, as pathetic as it seems to people in real life.

This will continue until I forget about the website. I will not quit, I will not succumb to a narcissistic suicide here just for attention. Failing grades or social life won't take me out of here. I can't make something grow by shrinking something else out of force. Eventually I will just grow inactive and lose all memory of this place - and that will happen, just like it has for other forums I've partaken in. I won't care when I leave, nobody else will care either. It's a win-win deal, and it is inevitable.

When I look at the uselist now I know around 3/4 of all users
