Feature to see previous names?

Sometimes we got confused when people change names and we don't know who are they, especially if we were away when they changed their names.

I wonder if it's possible to the feature to see people's previous usernames, possibly from the 'About Me' tab in the profile page.

There are a lot of people I know, but since they changed their names, I don't know who they are anymore.

I'm sure is more practical than looking at the thread.

What Ross said, use the "Post your new username here" thread.

If you can't find someone's name there just CTRL+F, if their newest name doesn't appear to be there, just ask the user with the mysterious name directly.

Not everyone posts their name changes, and considering the last time the 'Post your new username ITT' was updated was April 15 2012, not all name changes that have been posted in that thread would have been recorded in the OP.

It would definitely be more convenient if we could view what someone's previous usernames were, via the 'About Me' tab on someone's profile, rather than relying on someone to post their name change, or having to ask the person what their user name is (since not everyone will bluntly say what their previous user names were, for one reason or another).

They are, in fact Jiggmin even had a feature up for a few minutes that showed your past usernames as its own section in your profile. Although it was deleted rather quickly.

That feature is possible, I asked about this once actually. The response I got was that some people change their names to start new, so maybe if there was just an option for members to turn it off?

There should be a little button under the usertitle that says, "Also Known As...", and when you click it, the previous usernames pop up in a little window.

Keep in mind that Jiggmin is limited to the forum features he can add, I do not think he could do this even if he wanted. Besides, we already have a thread for that :]

EDIT: After reading all the posts previously, I guess it is possible. But I'm not sure if 100% of the users will agree to having their name show. But I'd say go for it.

Yeah this happened a few months ago, I don't know why that feature didn't stay up though.

When you'v been on JV for a considerable amount of time, your maturity level can change a lot. Some people want to get rid of their old names because now they just don't like it. My named used to be Jazzaboy, and I took the 'boy' out of it because I felt it sounded childish.
