If you don't want either, then let the discussion forum serve its purpose. Religion is one of the most influential, diverse, and dividing things in existence. It makes sense that a few threads out of thousands would pop up.

The reason there are so many religion threads is that religion has always been a big topic for debate anywhere. People hold very strong beliefs that differ wildly from others, and often feel that they must push those views on others. Further, people find the debate very interesting. I'd rather see three religious debate threads than three useless spam threads or rapper teacher threads.
