Your best friend's a racist.

Well I was watching an episode of peepshow at some time after midnight and this topic came up: your best friend turns out to be racist.

So I thought I'd expand it, firstly how would you react if you discovered your best friend was racist, what if you found out they were a paedophile?
What truthes would you have to discover about your best friend in order to make you fully reject and shun them?

But anyways, I'd probably be very appalled if my best friend was racist. I'd never be able to look at him the same way again. (I know he's not though)

My best friend is actually racist many times. I make him feel bad about it a lot but he never seems to stop his ways.

I would find it alienating and confusing. On the one hand I wouldn't want to associate with someone who held a vile or hateful compulsion, yet on the other hand, in ignorance they were a good friend despite it all and clearly have emotions like any other person.

I'd want to disuade them but would not be sure if it were even possible or if I could face them.

Why not just ask them how they'd feel if someone was being racist to them? That may possibly stop them from being ignorant.

If he was racist, I'd deal with it, make a racist joke every once in a while, if he was gay, I'd deal with it, everyone calls me gay, if he was a pedo, then that would be awkward, but hey, I'm actually kinda pervy. :/

well my best frend is sometimes racist ...he makes racist jokes i feel bad about it and sometimes i even laughwhich makes me feel horrible but when my other bestfrend is around (who IS black) we keep racism totally out because it can be sensetive.......so you just deal with it though

Personally, what would make me betray a friend's trust totally would be if they confided guilt of committing some awful crime in me. I'd have to report them.

Well, one of my best friends is already kinda racist.. well not really, but he makes racist jokes. Even about his own race too. (he's half african american, and half white)

But anyway, if that were the case I'd hang out with him less, and not get involved in a lot of what he's doing sometimes. It would be hard though because it's my best friend.

Most of my friends are very racist. Around where I live it's rare to find us who aren't
So it doesn't really phase me that they are, since it doesn't really directly effect me.
