If you want this to be unique, don't rely too heavily on Hussie's style. "For completely ironic purposes" is COMPLETELY a reference to Dave. If no one knew about the pre-existing scenes, you are now starting to define your character in a way that is already, IMO, TOO similar to Dave from HS.
Give him his own interests. Give him his own personality.
