    Default Immortality

Do you think humans will ever achieve it?

I thought it was a bit silly, but then I thought about it some more. Its actually relatively simple to achieve basic immortality, as long as we have the ability to fully synthesize a human body and brain with all the memories and feelings of someone, and then store that for future use, you could just have the same body over and over, while your memories keep getting added too and saved every time you "die". I'm not sure what effect this would have on humanity, though I suppose that if he had that high of a technology level, things like food should be easy to make.

Most likely. My guess is some random person will just randomly find something that will add more years to your life until some mad scientist experiments on it until it makes you immortal. I'm going to be that mad scientist.

One flaw, scientists won't do it. You think they are going to come up with the plan that would ultimately doom the planet due to over population and lack of food and water? Space may not be the problem, but hey, I like food and water as much as the next guy and I don't feel like fighting George Washington for my next drink.

I don't think that will really happen though. By the time we find any way to really achieve immortality, we will have found much better ways of producing food and water.

Producing water? Exactly how? Sea water? Won't last as long as you think. It's a difficult situation.

That's so Genius, but if we were immortal wed fall into space and someone would EVENTUALLY find other existence.

we ALREADY have the technology to convert salt water to fresh water but it is extremely expensive. Only two countries so far practice this process.

Okay, but I'm not arguing the impossibility of the technology, I am reasoning against that if you took all the sea water on the face of the earth and balled it up, it would only barely be the size of the western US. Considering immortal humans would begin to gather at an increasing rate, so will the depletion of water.

If water was on the line when the world ended, i think financial issues would be the least of concerns. nothing would cost money.

which is true, so let's not find out how to be immortal lol

Nope. Our cells know what to do and not to do. If we evolute toward immortality, the population would continue to grow rapidly as no one would die. Over population of humans can lead to devastating problems, such as land constraint, high demand of food, etc. If this happens, we would have no choice but to migrate to another larger habitable planet.

Scientists have been examining space for any planet relative to Earth all coming up with planets seemingly plausible for water, but lack the necessary gravity requirements to sustain human skeletal structures. Considering the closest is more than 20 light years away. Assume the expanding universe and by the time immortality is conceived, it will be even further away. Migration is futile.

That is if immortality is possible. According to the water cycle, everything is fine, as long as we humans have no idea that our liquid waste is purified and then reconsumed to quench thirst.
