Thread: YouTube Mp3

    Default YouTube Mp3

Yeah yeah, this old news, but whatever.
If you don't already know, there is a website, http://www.youtube-mp3.org/. This is a website where you can put in a youtube link, and it will let you covert the video link into an mp3 for free, which you can then transfer on you ipod or whatever. People do this because this way you can get free music, without paying through iTunes.

Philip Matesanz is the one who created this website. He recently got a letter from Google claiming that his site violates YouTube's terms of service. Phillip is getting experts to look into this. While the site is still up, it no longer works properly. There was also a petition set up to defend his site, which can be found here.
Also, more information can be found here.

Now this all comes down to whether you are against or for pirating sites like these. Keep in mind there are many other sites that do the same. How do you feel about Google suing for this? Do you ever use any kinds of these websites to get free music? Please feel free to discuss anything related to pirating sites like youtube mp3's, and where you stand.

It's probably the most tedious and silliest way to pirate music and that's not what I use it for. I do occasionally want to rip sounds effects and whatnot from videos for my own use and it's pretty lame not being able to do that now. There are other sites I can use, but my browser extension uses that site for MP3 so it's a lot less convenient :<

Anyway, it's the same debate as what happened in the past for home recordings on casette tapes and whatnot. Personally I think everyone should have the right to keep a personal recording of a public media. If you can stream a file, you can also store it on your hard drive. Shutting down sites won't stop this, so I don't think they'll accomplish much.
    Well, shall we dance?

Personally i use video2mp3 sites alot, and i dont see anything wrong with them cause most of the music i use them on is being given out for free via download links in the description but i just find it faster to download them from the video itself,
But if someone is using it on songs/videos that are meant to be bought then i find it wrong ( still do it anyway im not paying for sound waves )

You'd be surprised how many people use them. Songs are just getting more and more expensive, and people just want their music, not even thinking if it's wrong.

    I'm against this.
Just like downloading a whole video, after asking permission from a user with the content i desire, it makes it a lot easier to download rather than to arrange an msn meeting or go though the painful upload/download session on a file sharing site that no one really wants to do. I used this from time to time to edit my terrible vlogs and other presentations and credit was given.
However i do see the major floor for the people who use it to download bad quality music with video edit sounds, bad audio level, etc.

I use to do so and I only use it for videos that I need.

But in the end, I realized the sound quality sounded like shit. Mono ****ing sucks.
