I don't think it's that bad. Next year, I will buy a Windows 8 laptop.
I haven't tried it, but can't you switch to the standard windows 7 style with the click of a button?

Why the heck does everybody keep saying "it doesn't seem that bad" like that makes it worth using.
You can have "mediocre" or you can have nearly perfect. Your damn choice.
Well, shall we dance?
As good as that post was, I had to single out this part for a specific reason. I am not afraid to call Microsoft stupid. Windows Vista is too protective. Good for computer-illiterate, but terrible for everyone else. Google, on the other hand, is something that I fear to call stupid. Google has yet disappointed me.

It's pretty much a schizophrenic operating system.
It's trying to be a desktop OS and a mobile OS at the same time, and failing terribly at being a desktop OS or being a mobile OS.
As long as it is not as bad as Windows Vista, I am fine with it.
I've had the final version of Win 8 on here for a few days now, and it seems to work pretty well to me. I've had the Visual Studio Ultimate RC, and I agree that it isn't perfect, and that it could use some UI improvements, but at least they're making an effort to standardize it over the whole OS.
Also, I've been running Server 2012 final as well, and you almost never have to look at that silly start screen, though its very useful at bootup.
(Note: I got the RTM versions of both though TechNet)
I don't have it but it looks like crap.
A nice article: http://www.pcgamesn.com/article/why-...ling-windows-8
My ****ing god.It took me nearly half an hour to work out how to turn off my PC. So: here’s exactly how you do it: You move your mouse to the bottom right or top right of your screen. You then click on options. You then click on power, and then finally, you click on the Shutdown option.
