To be 100% sure, back up your files and re-install Windows. That will ensure you're clean. Better to do that, then to find out you're screwed.

My computer was made in 2010. Even if it was made back in 2007, I wouldn't have been hit. I am very aware of what goes on in my computer. If I have ever stumbled upon anything suspicious (I have recently), I prevent a spread, then I do a virus check. For example, recently, I went on a site that said "Your computer is infected with viruses! Wipe them now!" It then appeared a pop-up with text saying "Clean it now!" I closed the tab without clicking anything, erased that from history, and did a virus check. I didn't erase it from cookies for I don't think it would affect the cookies.
