It also would've been incompatible with the Xbox when they started out. No, the only reason for them to not make a PS3 port is because Microsoft gave them money by the sackful.
(also, Minecraft's a downloadable game on both platforms that it's on. I see no reason for it to suddenly get a disc release if it got a PS3 port.)

This is opinionated.
If you don't have a PC that can run Minecraft then get the Xbox version. If you already have a PC and it can run Minecraft you'll be wasting your money getting the Xbox Edition.
