lol, that's not how many friend he has. Check your own "friend" thing.
(The "friend" thing is 0 if the user is not on your friends list. It's 1 if that user is on your friends list.)

That's all well and good, but why did the unix thingy start at 1969 instead of when the game was first made, and why if there's nothing recorded for a user does it go foward to 1970? And is it always the 31st of September, 1969? Why is it that way?

Unix was not made by Jiggmin, it was made by other people years ago.

Unix was launched January 1, 1970, making that the "epoch date", i.e., time began for Unix at midnight on January 1, 1970.

If there is nothing recorded, it is by default 0. The date is stored as a simple number (which is the number of seconds from January 1, 1970 midnight).
It's 31st of December, not September. 31st December, 1969, is a few hours behind January 1st, 1970, midnight. Since the date is stored as what time it was in the UK (I think that's where) it has to adjust for time zones.

3.8 billion would be the number of seconds between now and Jan. 1 1970. (I didn't check if 3.8 bil is actually correct.)
There can't really be NOTHING in the database. Any "nothing" is actually zeros. Since the server didn't record anything, it stays at 0. A time of 0 is Jan. 1, 1970, midnight, GMT time. Adjusted for EST time (where the servers are) that's Dec. 30, 1969, at 7:00 pm.
