Grammar affects of how people see your intelligence. If you're better at grammar, then your display of intelligence is better. It doesn't matter how smart you claim to be; as long as you have bad grammar, your display of intelligence is low.

Not only do you seem less intelligent, but people with bad grammar tend to be actually less intelligent as well.

If you don't have the common sense to use at least decent grammar you aren't smart.

Hm...you're being a little too harsh there.

You said: If you don't have the common sense to use at least decent grammar you aren't smart.
Correct way: If you don't have the common sense to use at least decent grammar, you aren't smart.

    Otherwise, that was a run-on.

    Smart people aren't perfect.

    Idc, it's perfectly readable.
I'll break multiple grammar rules, even intentionally, for ease of reading. (This one I was not aware of though, and neither do I care.)

You didn't have any trouble reading it, you were just looking for some mistake, right?

A run on in my mind is a sentence that just goes on and you notice is just going on and doesn't stop and there aren't any periods and it makes you forget where the sentence began and there are too many ands, buts, etc. in the sentence and it goes on like this sentence because this is a run-on sentence.

But it's true that smart people aren't perfect. Our intelligence often serves to show us more imperfections than it solves.

Our brains just emphasize on the mistakes more than actual perfections. Also, I personally think that the run-on sentence you displayed above was more difficult to read. The reason was mainly because I am used to top-notch grammar.

You mean the big long one at the end of that quote, or the one Mars pointed out?

Oh, and it seems I forgot to point out in my previous post:
My "run-on" sentence said "decent grammar", not "perfect grammar".

I was meaning the large run-on sentence you said in your previous post.

Good then, because it was meant to be rather difficult to read.

Well yes, being that this thread is about being more cautious about grammar, my brain is subjected to find mistakes, it's only natural. I usually don't find things like that.

I love it when I'm reading a thread and someone corrects "You're" with "Your" even though the person was originally correct.
