Depends on where a family lives. Like where I originate, whipping children is illegal but people frequently do it anyway. Looking at Mogadishu, I'm lucky enough to even have parents! As we can all see, there's a lot more troublesome stuff in the world we have to worry about than just some random child beating.

Corporal punishment is not illegal in any part of the US when at home. In many southern states it is still allowed in school as well.

I honestly do not know any kid that hasn't been beaten before and deserved it. I broke four of my brother's teeth before when I was little and I remember times where I cried for well over 4 hours from being reprimanded. It wasn't uncommon to feel pain when sitting for a few days afterwards either.

I know this is illegal in most of Europe(not the UK though), but is legal in every state in the US.

It depends. My friend who lives here in CT in the summer goes to school in Texas and has been beaten with a belt by his school principal when he was in elementary school. There's no law defining what is punishment and what is abuse. It's not like it says "You may hit your child 10 times in a 5 minute period at full strength between the small of the back and crease of the knees."
