Thread: Should condoms be distributed in schools?

  1. #21
My school does anyway. But it's kinda like a half and half.. It helps prevent unwanted pregnancies but it also kinda says we are okay with children having sex as long as they use protection.

We can go ask for condoms if we want at our school.

What's wrong with teenagers having consensual safe sex? Does having sex suddenly and only become a moral option on your birthday...can people really stick to such arbitrary measures as if they're solid?

No, realism is far more important.

My college provides contraception and a sexual health clinic, but some students admitted to losing their virginity at and younger than 14. It's biology, so it's inevitable and in that case why shouldn't the school be there to ensure it happens safely? The school has the greatest opportunity to introduce people to contraception.

    Raar!

    Nothing wrong with that.

Actually it is. If the person drops out of school because she has to take care of a child or if she's carrying around a whining/screaming/abused child all day then yes. It absolutely is.

Have you ever been to your local swimming pool and there is always a guy standing in front of the condom machine.
    No? Just me.

Who cares about shifting the responsibility, it's the opportunity that matters, the opportunity to prevent unwanted pregnancies and reduce the spread of STI's.

I'm sure a lot of people agree that it's better to be safe than sorry.
I know that, but honestly where do you think they're going to be doing it more often if they can get the condoms there? ,_,

This is an unfair assumption about people's behaviour and it fails to recognise chlamydia is worse than someone havign sex in a cupboard.

I know that STDs as a result of unprotected sex are worse than that, I never said they weren't. I said somebody ELSE should have the responsibility of providing children with condoms if they're inevitably going to be having sex, not the school.

And honestly I do go under that assumption, and maybe it is something that's wrong for me to assume of everybody, but in my experience kids are already intimate at school and this is just middle school I'm talking about... I really cannot imagine what highschool is going to be like. ._.

I was given a condom at school in 9th grade. I think it's good that schools hand out condoms. No one is telling them to go have sex, but if they want to, wouldn't it be good using a condom?

I believe people can do it whenever they feel like it condoms or not.

Who do you propose should have the responsibility then? I can't think of any better way of getting them out there, honestly :?

Uh, I dunno, their parents? Other trusted family members?
Honestly I think parents should be the ones teaching their kids about safe sex anyways. Schools always fill their abstinence speeches with scare tactics and it's disgusting.

I'm sure the kiddos are really eager to tell their family about their sexual endeavors :>
