Thread: Incest

    Default Incest

What are your opinions? Is it wrong? If so why?
If you don't know what incest is, it's the act of sexual activities with a family member.
So unless you have somthing intelligent to say, GTFO.

    Personally, I think it's okay.
It's just another human! Although these kinds of acts could make or break the relationship you have. Either way it goes, your living with them :/ (well not always)
    For True Story
    Stars don't twinkle
    The moon doesn't shine
    Stars don't twinkle
    The moon doesn't shine

    Birds don't sing
    The wind doesn't blow
    To the pure body
    To the perfect existence

    I'm shivering with cold
    I struggle against despair

Incest may cause problems to the baby (large problems). I don't know why, but Rammjet can explain it.

to be honest, I don't see any scientific problems against it but it's just against my morals
For that reason, I don't think it's ok

It can lead to an increased chance of regressive traits.

/shortanswer, rammjet will probably post the long answer

Gene combinations can get mixed up in conception, leading to mutations. I think it's disgusting and harmful, tbh.

I think it would be ok if contraception was used. If you get them pregnant that's when it should become illegal.

If a bro and sis wanna do it...I don't see why they can't, it's their choice what they do, they just have to realize that it can scar them for life what they did, who am I to tell what people can or can't do? as long as they use protection, if she got pregnant I would feel so sorry for the baby.

    Okay a few reasons

    1) increases the chance of bad genes because it keeps the same genes in the pool, because people in families tend to have recessive traits that do not show. However they may show because of a 25% chance. Although this can happen in normal families, the chances are higher in incest because people of the same family have most f the same genes.
    2) the traits may change in number and can increase in probability. For example polydactalism (extra fingers/toes) is dominant.

Gah, Incest was for more popular in medieval times.
Cyrano de Bergerac was pro-Incest :3

The human genome is made up of genes, which control the production of proteins for different functions, like the colour of your skin, the size of your heart etc
These genes vary from person to person, but some genes are defective. For example there might be two versions of a gene [called alleles]
Let's use flowers as an example:

One allele might code for purple pigments to attract bugs, another one for white flowers [a defective version].
Because you have two parents you have two sets of alleles for most things, same with the plant. So if the plant has 1 purple allele and 1 white allele it can still attract bugs because 1 allele is producing the right pigments despite the defective gene [this is called a carrier]. But if you have two sets of defective flower genes your flower won't be purple and the plant won't be able to attract bugs to pollinate it. [this is called a sufferer] :C

So how does this relate to incest? Just like the plant you don't want to be born with two sets of defective genes [although for you it could be something like a heart disease rather than a crappy flower] In a family a brother and a sister might both be carriers for this gene, so if they have sex with eachother the chance of the offspring having two sets of defective genes [a sufferer] is much higher than if the siblings had sex with people from a different gene pool who were not carriers.

    /end obligitary and crap explanation/

    Raar!

That's what I was gonna say.

@ actual topic, obviously incest babies are a bad idea, but if we ban these people from having children because of an increased chance of a defect should we ban people with dominant disorders who we know will definitely have diseased children from having kids all together?

It's a difficult choice to make... If incestuous couples don't want to have children do we still make their relations illegal for fear their contracpetion will fail? What if the couple is sterile or homosexual?

I can't make up my mind on this.

    Raar!

Well, most people are naturally programmed to avoid incest for previously stated reasons. The few who aren't affected by this still usually don't practice it because of the taboo placed on it by society. The very few left who practice it will most likely continue to do so regardless of the law, however public actions like marriage among blood relatives should be illegal.

I feel bad for finding it so... err, gross... but I suppose as long as they're not having children together there's no reason for me to object to people doing what they're happy with.
