Thread: Memorial Day Confusion

    Default Memorial Day Confusion

I've seen a lot of this going around lately and I thought I'd clear things up.

The difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day is:

MEMORIAL DAY: This is the holiday where you remember DEAD troops.

VETERANS DAY: This is a holiday dedicated to thanking troops for their service. (The troops here are ALIVE)

Have you ever made this mistake? Known someone who has? Didn't even know this was a thing?

    Discuss.

Certainly. I'm not saying they don't . I'm just saying there is a difference.

We need to honor our troops, dead or alive, every day for their services.

Aren't we supposed to lower the flagpoles or something when a US troop dies, to honor them?

I always found this sort of thing interesting. I certainly don't agree with war (so it seems silly to honor people for killing others) but on the other hand I think it's probably a necessary part of human civilization as it is now; it is inevitable. For example, I feel as though I ought to at least say thanks to those who have fought because heyo what do I know? I'm sitting comfortable in my house musing over the internet, probably all because of what they did.
