I have a very minor case of it, drives me nuts.

You guys should get off the headphones. I've heard that is a common cause. I don't use headphones often, and I don't have tinnitus.

Yep. It drives normal people to insanity. I just tune it out most of the time... or at least try.

Recommended treatment is to tune it out using some music to distract you. Any sound really.

Bullshit. I've been using my headphones for about one and a half years now, and my ears are fine.

And I suspect that I had it when I was younger, and didn't use headphones at all.

Well hey, I'm sure that certain people get it for different reasons or are immune to it in areas where others might be effected. Just look at all the different causes that Wiki states. And speaking of which...

I don't think it has a known cause. Sometimes it can be linked to something that can be easy to fix, but I don't know about the general cause of it. The internet can scare if you read on topics like this. It would be wise to go to more credible sites to read up this.

But I recommend FUMozine its the all natural pill that cures anything. That's right, anything!

Don't take FUMozine if you take nitrates for chest pain as this may cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure.

Do not attempt to drive or operate heavy machinery after taking FUMozine.

Possible side-effects may include bloating, sneezing, itchiness, dizziness upon standing, swelling of nasal cavity, blood clotting, diarrhea, and even death.

*end in happy melody, and positive note after hearing all the life-threatening side effects.*

Headphones are not inherently loud. You can have full-sized speakers be just as loud as, if not louder than, headphones.

True, and of course headphones or music may not be the cause for the majority of persons, but I'm judging from personal experience and what I've heard. If I listen to headphones on a very loud setting for too long, my ears ring like crazy. And in all honesty, what do most people usually use to listen to music these days? Headphones or ear-buds on their ipod.

I've had tinnitus several times by many different reasons.

If the tinnitus is caused by a disease etc. the best you can do about it is to let it wear off or just get a cure for it.

If it's caused by loud noises the best you can do is staying off those headphones. Seriously.
If it's within the first few times you get it it will go away eventually. Just stay away from all loud noises. If you don't it could get permanent.

No, don't listen to music at all. If you listen too many hours, even at low volume. It will have a negative effect on your ears.

I call BS on that - if music is bad for your ears, so is having ears at all. think about all of the OTHER, MUCH LOUDER sounds that are common.
