I'd use both. They're both really good.

The Pro looks a LOT like an Xbox 360 controller, which I love. Not sure about the Wii U Gamepad though, I'd have to try it.

EDIT: and I just noticed this: for the first time since the SNES, Nintendo's making a primary controller, packed in with the console, that doesn't either look like someone puked plastic on a controller shell or decided to make a f***ing motion controller as the primary controller. Granted, the Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controllers also have motion controls, but it's far from the primary feature like with the Wiimote.
