Thread: "Wii U will be disappointing"

Wii U won't have a DVD player because Nintendo does not make any DVD products. Perhaps if they did, then, well, it might have been put into consideration.

IS THIS TRUE!? OMG YOU'RE MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, if you guys are referring to the Wii Classic Controller Pro, to be the new thing for Wii U, IT'S NOT THAT BAD. Honestly. I'm playing brawl with it right now. It has an R2, and L2, (which just act like grab buttons, like the Z on Gamecube) and the D-pad is on the top left, and Joy stick below it.
I am pretty sure it is true. Why wouldn't they when they did N64 and below? They didn't do it one the Wii for it was backward-compatible. Here is a link I just found for more information:

There is a reason they named it "Wii U".

Well that makes no sense because your posts was too stupid for me which means that I am smarter than you I guess.

The Wii also didn't have a normal controller. And I don't know anyone who has any problems with that.

    No DVD Player

Nintendo announced there will be no DVD Player. This is a huge letdown. Even the PS2 can play DVDS. So can the Xbox. Nintendo is 3 generations behind. To me that is a huge letdown and another reason just to not buy it at all. Sorry Nintendo.

Honestly, in my opinion, DVD players in home consoles are useless anyway. Just buy a DVD player if you want to watch movies. And considering it is going to have Netflix anyway, its not as big of a letdown as you say it is.

    Can not play GameCube

If Nintendo's reasoning for this is "it's 2 generations behind" then I'm not going to be very happy. Even PS3 can play PS1 Games. And besides, if you are like me who goes from GameCube, to Wii, then to Wii U I still have GameCube games that need played. Of course the Wii U will play Wii games. But so does the Wii itself. So the Wii U is not proving itself any better.

Actually, the Wii U's virtual console will have Gamecube games. You just cant play the physical disk is all.

    No normal controller

Assuming everybody has seen the new controller, it is obviously not traditional like the PS or Xbox controllers are. Playing games on that thing is going to be impossible. And with no GameCube compatibility for the controller it is going to be really hard playing games with either the tablet, or the Wii remote.

Just because the controller is different doesn't mean the controller is bad.

    It's not original

The name Wii U? Seriously? Just add a "U" at the end, fancy controller, and HD and you are almost at the same level as Xbox 360. And it looks a lot similar to the Wii also. Kind of like DS to 3DS. Nintendo is running out of ideas.

So is Xbox and Playstation. Xbox just added 360 to the end of its name. And Sony just adds the next number to the end PS2, PS3 etc.
    Responses in bold.

And even though I disagree with you, I don't think the Wii U will be a big success, but it still will be somewhat of a success.

    Define success!

My definition of success: No lag on Super Smash Bros online!

I find it very likely that you will be able to use the classic controller for many games that don't require the new screen, since the Wii U will be able to use Wii controllers. So yes, it will be compatible with a "normal" controller. (Not that it's that important anyways.)

Not being able to play GameCube games is a setback, but it's not really that important. Buying a Wii U will not make your Wii (or GameCube) disappear.

If you applied that kind of logic for all systems, then eventually, your setup would look something like this:

Although I agree that it's not that critical to have the ability to play GameCube games on the Wii U, I do believe they should implement the idea. It wouldn't take that long.

    @First part:

@Second part: I think that price is more of an issue than time to make.

The logic being that just because you have one system, doesn't mean you get rid of the other. I currently have these Nintendo systems:
Mind you, these are just the systems I own that are by Nintendo. I have more.

    • Nintendo 64
    • SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System)
    • GameCube
    • Wii

Now, if I had one TV, and I still played them all, the image is what the cables all in one place would look like. If the Wii U could play both GameCube and Wii games, which wouldn't be all that hard for Nintendo to implement, then that's six wires gone right there.

Guys please don't quote my post trying to disprove it with irrelevant speculations based off of what other people have said.

And yes the wii does have multiple controllers that I call "normal". Gamecube, Classic...

Mmm, the Wii U will probs be a BIT dissapointing 'cause it's basically just a Wii with a DS as the controller.
But, about the 'Can't Play Gamecube games on it' thing, I'm sure you'll be able to download/buy CGN games from the Virtual Console store.
You are all weak, you are all bleeders!

    ._.
I have like 4 N64's and loads of controllers. Not too many games though. I have one in my room, one in the living room, one in our other house further west in Norway and one in our vacation house. We also have like 8 controllers (2 in each house), and loads of spare parts for both the consoles and the controllers.
    Y U NO have many N64's.
