Thread: Computers in 30 years

    Default Computers in 30 years

What do you think they will have?

    A transparent screen?
    Holograms?
    3D Everythinyg?
A think that shoots a laser into your eye to recognize your instead of a password?

SSDs will be in exobytes.. 128GB ram will probably be common. maybe they will have solved quantum computing too.. those are my guesses anyways

Heck, I still don't own a SSD. I could use one heh.

Personally though, I think more computer manufacturing companies will model after the Macbook Air's in respect to how Apple stores the data: flash memory sticks.
Some movement away from Hard drives/solid state drives may happen soon (the "cloud" replaces this somewhat too).

NO. If mind reading from over 1 meter is invented I'm going to kill whoever invented it and destroy the technology and all research information related to it. I do not want my mind being read!

Anyway, they'll certainly be a lot more advanced....no telling how far. Maybe we'll have quantum computers? 3D hologram screens would be pretty neat, though. For recognizing you instead of typing a password, I've seen a laptop that let you log into windows by having it recognize your face. (This wouldn't ever be used for high security I bet, since faking someone's face shouldn't be all that difficult.) Having 1,000,000,000 TB hard disk space would be awesome too.

What good is a transparent screen?

It'll probably just continue to grow exponentially for a while. Powerful PCs today will be crap.

Didn't read all of it but there are already computers that allow you to allow you to log in using your face, my grandmother has one.

I'd also like to point out that software is a very important part of computer technology, and I think is becoming more and more important as technology goes on. The demands on computing speeds are being met, more convenient and efficient software is the future. (Of course we'll need better computing for some stuff, but many users could go with what we have today)

I think everything will be super thin. Laptops with 4TB RAM will be 2 ounces.

Basically what I said....You might want to consider reading an entire post before replying.

EDIT2: Oops, meant for that to be an edit. XD

Speaking of software, imagine Ubuntu (and Linux in general) 30 years from now...holy cow!

well "flash memory" and SSDs are the same thing as far as im aware.. they are both made of the same semi-conductor material. with that technology, you see ram and flash drives going down fast as well.

Laptops will break constantly due to being so thin.

You will get papercuts off your phone.

Nope, don't see anything wrong with that.

    They are.

Flash memory stick? Oh, you mean thumbdrive? An SSD is just a huge version of that.

Apple likes to put technobabble on everything. When you open it up and compare it to technology that's pretty much everywhere, it's suddenly a lot less impressive.

All I want from a computer is a cheap terra-bite hard drive ^.^
I don't want kinetic like PC.

I'm looking forward to what people can make after advanced AI's with human-like intelligence can be made to run on an ordinary desktop computer. Should be pretty neat.
