Thread: Kerbal Space Program

    Default Kerbal Space Program

    http://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/

It's a spaceflight simulator. You get to design your own spacecraft (only rockets in the free version, but spaceplanes have been added in more recent, but no longer free, versions). Then you get to fly it.

    It's very hard.

You can get the free version, which I am playing right now, or you can pay $15 USD to pre-order and get all of the updates for free.

The game has support for modding, and there's a reasonably large community of KSP modders.

Seriously, go to the website, download the free version, follow the installation instructions, and try it. Your first rocket WILL crash, no exceptions, but keep trying and eventually you'll end up in orbit around entirely the wrong object like me due to a hilariously overpowered rocket.

The game is quite awesome. I made a blog about it 20 days ago but nobody even bothered to read it.

But yeah, the game is awesome with mods. I haven't managed to land on the moon (mostly because I never think ahead when building. All I do is mount huge amounts of rockets for one stage, enough to get me into orbit and then I have nothing to send me to the moon).

    Also, it's much like Spore.

    Are you using boosters?

Boosters are a nice lightweight way to help with getting off the launch pad, but you should eject them the exact moment they run out of fuel or they'll be dead weight. Liquid fuel is your friend.

looks like fun.. it doesnt look like space is very populated though.. it'd be nice to have a complete solar system at the very least.

Damn I think my 2GHz (laptop) onecore CPU with 1GB RAM can't handle it :\

Damn even a phone is better then a computer very impressive.

It's pretty cool, but I certainly won't be paying $15 for it.
(Something funny, interesting, or even mildly entertaining should go here, but I can't think of anything at this particular moment.)

No. It can't be compared. Even samsungs new 1,4GHz quad core CPU isn't faster. Ask Nick (nikc10) for more info

The game is only in beta so far. But it's hard getting to ''Mun'', so you can't expect to reach any other planets with the current technology.

my first attempt went smooth, but then i ran out of fuel half way up.. i added more fuel and now the thing can fly straight lol

My computer only has a 1.6 Ghz processor, single core.

    ...

    I feel so outdated now.

Oh how cool probably not gonna buy, might download it if I have time and my laptop comes back

In that case, enjoy your outdated version while the rest of us crash spaceplanes.

Here's my little spaceship in solar orbit:

It works quite well, and I still have plenty of fuel left, so I might try to get back to kerbel if I can.

Lifting off from Kerbal, landing on ''Mun'' safely, lifting off and landing on Kerbal on the exact same position as you lifted off from is more of a challenge. I saw somebody on youtube do it.

It's actually not that hard with some practice and work, I know I've almost managed it a few times.

If you manage to get out of Kerbol orbit, tell me. I have far too many vessels stranded there.

I guess it's pretty fun, but I wouldn't be willing to pay 16 dollars for it so far. It's fun to thrust the ship into the ground, and also to roll the main piece around the planet.
    I made it myself
I'll work on it again soon I promise
