I think...For humans, the relatively calm lives most of us experience can only realistically be achieved by the defense of the masses from empassioned but violent causes through mutual violence.
But the key word there is most, and huge situations have been resolved before, at least in part, through peaceful campaigns, like the liberation of India.
Maybe in the future as protective technology developes and human society evolves to be more harmonious [hopefully] we will settle all of our differences peacefully...the unfortunate fact of the moment is that every nation which enjoys peace at home is either prepared for war itself or protected by another nation that is...we are animals after all, and animals solve their problems with physical force more often than not- that's what an animal is- a machine that solves its problems through physical animation.

When one country likes cheese and the other one likes peanut butter, there is always war.
Throughtout history, war has solved many problems, but it has also cause many problems. War is always going to be a thing in the world. It would be great if war could be stopped and we could be come to agreements, but that wont happen.
If China says "USA, We want you land" The USA isnt going to come to an agreement with China. They are going to say F no, and what is china going to do if they really want our land. They attack. Arguements cant always be resolved with compromise, it is just the fact of life.
