The point of my post was very simple: Jiggmin didn't make a compromise, he made a declaration on something that had nothing to do with it.

The problem lies in how JV staff interprets the rules. You can make them as simple as you want, but to what extent someone enforces the rules is usually hard to change.

The original matter of swear enforcement was a repression that came out of the blue, for such things to stop happening is what we need.

In other words, we want a sort of system that decreases the ability of JV staff to perversely apply the rules to their liking.

What is it with you and your "the moderators have a conspiracy theory" thing? All they do is enforce the rules the best they can, not "perversely" use them to give themselves some benefit.

Some mods enforce the rules over the littlest things. Take lightnin's situation for example, he called himself an idiot and got infracted for it.

He never got infracted for calling himself an idiot, if you think that you are severely misinformed.
No one has ever had an infraction for calling someone else an idiot.
If you care enough to PM me, we can go look at his past infractions and discuss them in detail.

I think that we should be allowed to use the word idiot or other swears just as long as we're not directing them at people. Myself and a few other people have gotten infractions for simply quoting swears. (Mostly to tell them not to swear, I guess we should have edited out the swear)

I suppose I was misinformed, but like I said above, we get infracted for quoting swears, rather we used to.

You are allowed to use the word idiot and other un-censored cuss words (no filter-dodging), as long as they're not directed at other members. And you've always been able to use the word "idiot."

Anyway, we're not that mean.
Jiggmin's decided the words that are to be censored, and I fully agree with him.
They're his forums, all we do is enforce the rules and act as role models.

I commonly see insults to JV members in general, yet never hear of infractions for it.
So why is saying "Leave me alone, idiots" any different? What reason is there for any member to think he means them specifically? Even so, user titles are quite often sarcastic and not really meant.

Quit ur complainin people, that's all I see day in and day out.

Be happy that this place isn't full of garbage (mostly) but anyway the mods are who block most of the garbage. Be thankful for that before Jiggmin declares 1 week of kicking everyone the hell off his site for turning it into nothing but anarchy related topics.

Awesomeness. The censor is perfectly fair, by the way. I mean, sexism and racism are not cool. At all. And the F word has more bad purposes than good. So I don't see the problem with a censor. =D

Makes sense to me. I do think that the c word and the n word should be censored because those are two of the swear words I find to be most offensive, but the rest are fine... but I suppose I don't mind if you acknowledge that it's not really necessary in a lot of people's eyes and is just something you don't want to see on a site you created.
