    Thumbs up Temporary Moderator Guidelines

    Temporary Moderator

Temporary Moderator: Often referred to as 'temp mod'. Has the ability to give warnings in chat and access mod room. After a temporary moderator has been on a server for over 24 hours their modship expires, if they logout their modship also expires. They are made from trusted members that are kind, and involved in the community. Promoted by administrators.

    A Temporary Moderator's Responsibility

Attitude: As of now you are an official representative of Platform Racing 2, make sure you are prepared for the added expectations. You must absolutely follow remaining rules, observe the behaviorism that got you temporary modded. Try to be talkative in chat to promote general fun-having. Be fair to everyone, and help everyone to maintain professionalism.

Keep in Mind: You were chosen for your shining attitude for the added responsibilities you've received. You are now the knightly mod, and people will look up to you. Don't stress yourself out, try having some fun yourself.

Modding: When temporary modding, you will generally give 3 warnings. After that you will need to contact a mod/admin to assign an hour ban. When a user commits an offense a full moderator will need to deal with (such as nuking), give them a 60 second warning to hold them back.

    Warning 1: 15 Seconds
    Warning 2: 30 Seconds
    Warning 3: 60 seconds

Warning users at least twice is needed before a ban.

I'm going to leave this thread unlocked so you can post your opinions/questions on being a temp mod.
But any off-topic posts are going to be removed and you could get in trouble if you persist, keep that in mind before replying please.

Thanks for the great introduction of what the feeling of being a temp is like.
Just a question, is it possible for a person who has been banned before in PR2 to be a temp? The ban history might give an impression to the administrators that they cannot be trusted.
    If so, no chance bro.
But I won't be really mean unless people piss me off for something I didn't do.

But the ignore button can really be useful.

I'm no admin, so I cannot give a definite answer... but anyway, remember every single mod app that has been released say "must have had no bans in the last 6 months". So you know that's a requirement for mod, and therefore probably a requirement for temp. Past 6 months, it will probably be up to the admins.

I doubt it. But the default unbanning reason says "They bribed me with skittles!". So you could start from there...

(disclaimer: if anybody takes this post seriously... don't)

But isn't the ban period a reflection of your wrong doings?
I don't agree with the extra 6 months.

    Think of it this way:
Imagine some user has this ban record (not taken from any user, I'm making it up right now):
    • Mar 14, 2011 - Spam - 1 hour
    • Mar 15, 2011 - Spam, 1 prior - 1 day
    • Mar 19, 2011 - Scamming for accounts in chat - 1 day
    • Mar 22, 2011 - Scamming for accounts in PMs - 1 week
    • Apr 2, 2011 - Scamming for accounts, 2 priors - 1 month
    • May 11, 2011 - Swearing, being rude in char - 1 hour
    • May 15, 2011 - Bad chatter - 1 hour
    • May 18, 2011 - Bad chatter, 4 priors - 1 week
    • May 30, 2011 - Porn level - 1 week
    • Jun 10, 2011 - Bad chatter, flooding, 5 priors - 1 week
    • Jun 20, 2011 - Nuking - 1 day
    • Jun 30, 2011 - Nuking, 1 prior - 1 week
    • Jul 17, 2011 - Bad chatter again, 6 priors, flooding/spamming - 1 month
    • Sep 1, 2011 - Asking for accounts in PMs, 3 priors - 1 month

(I swear I just typed that up. If anybody's ban list matches that, tell me and I will bet for those dates in the next lottery, because it's almost impossible)
It's mid-December, and his last ban expired on October 1. Would you trust that person with modship? Would you trust that person to carry out his mod job correctly, and not to actually commit the same crimes, and/or not ban for them?
    What do you think?

I got banned for 1 month for being mean in Pms. I guess my 3/4th time.
    Is it too strict?

Ask an admin, they would know. It's their call, after all. Besides, I'm not in PR2, so I cannot even check your record (and I cannot log in at the moment).

I checked some other guy's ban:
    http://pr2hub.com/bans/show_record.php?ban_id=53776
He was being mean in Pms. Banned for 1 day by Gamorade.

    Mine:
    pr2hub.com/bans/show_record.php?ban_id=53051
I was being mean in Pms. Banned for 1 month by Gamorade.

If you want to complain about your ban, please, take it to PMs with the mod who banned you or with an admin... it's what's said all the time about them bans. Normally (and by "normally" I mean "almost always"), a mod wouldn't post information about the reasoning behind a ban, or an explanation about it, or simply discuss it, because it's spam for the thread, and it might be confidential and/or inappropriate. So basically, take it to PMs with the mod who banned you or an admin, they are the only ones who can do something about it.
