We both used photoshop, but just because we did doesn't mean you have to as well. I also draw in paint from time to time, you just have to be careful to not over crowd your comic with pixels.

Thanking for the effort... MOAR EFFORT! ;D

    Practice! Practive! Practice!
Try starting out by observing things IRL and draw them on paper, or at lease try. Start by drawing something simple like an egg. Apply your own drawing skills.

When you're on the computer, it's about mouse control, so start out by just scribiling in paint whatever you can, and your hand will eventually get used to the mouse/pad and it's sensitivity. Draw something simple in paint and colour it in and remeber that you have different brush sizes. Try out by starting to draw a person. If you fail, try again and fail better.

Hopefully you'll get the hang of it eventually, and once you do, you can look at dimensions and shading.

Here's something I did in paint on Page 2:

You could make the "old paint look" on Paint.NET actually. You can do it with the pencil tool or the brush tool. With the brush tool, all you need to do is click on that icon to the right of where it says "solid fill" that looks like curvy line. It will open a drop-down menu with only two options. Click "antialiasing disabled". You can now draw pixely drawings!
