the upload button there is dodgy I have chosen file, and it's type and stuff but either the upload button doesn't work or what I am clicking isn't the upload button...

That's odd, usually Minecraft.net will NOT let you download the game at all and it will take you straight to PayPal.

That is the actual publisher for minecraft, well it is when I try it.
That means that is not the problem and as he said he found another virus somewhere. That virus could have come from anything you downloaded and acted like a time bomb (activating after a certain time or a specified number of downloads), not too sure though.
But I only get that message when I go to the Minecraft site, so it can't but something like a time bomb virus (lol) and I can't have already got one if it only comes up when I go to that site.
Um, I have no idea what's going on. I never get that stupid ad thing.
EDIT: Although, I do have 2 adblockers.
