People always say the gunslinger is worthless, but the sentries shoot twice as fast as a normal level 1 sentry, and deploy in about two seconds. You can deploy it in some high tension areas and get three assists, I do it all the time in 2fort.
I think the gunslinger is a bit overpowered, honestly. They shut out scouts (which is one of my mains) very easily and effectively.
And yeah, frontier justice has great synergy with gunslinger. In fact, using all 3 of the engie update items (frontier, wrangler and gunslinger) can lead to a really scary combo if you do it right.

I've gotten almost all of the engineer achievements and still no Frontier Justice.
So do regular sentries. The Gunslinger isn't overpowered at all, and it still takes it a few seconds to take down a scout (not to mention like ten seconds to take down a soldier, and I don't know why a soldier would stand in front of a sentry for that long). While a regular sentry (implying it's not level 1, which I don't know why an engie would leave a sentry as level 1) would instantly destroy a scout or a heavy.
Yeah, but a regular sentry takes much longer to build, costs more metal and is much easier to take down while building.
And the dps on a mini-sentry is 48, so it'd take 3 seconds to take down a scout and about 5 for a soldier. The fact that he can place them almost anywhere and not really care too much if it gets destroyed means it's a lot harder for scouts than if the engie was using a regular sentry. A gunslinger engie can set huge swaths of land off limits to the scout.

Well yeah, but the problem is that a mini-sentry shuts down scouts almost as hard as it would a level 3 sentry.
Think about it this way. Here are the classes that counter a mini-sentry:
Soldier
Demoman
Heavy
Spy
The same classes that are effective against level 3 sentries. Every other class is in quite a bit of trouble if they want to face it, although it isn't quite the death warrant a level 3 would be. So the engineer can set up a very quick, mobile and replaceable version of the level 3 sentry that takes ages to build that can provide effective area denial, although not to the scope that a level 3 can.
Plus, with the wrangler? Easily disposable, low cost, fast building 96 dps machine that has infinite range and requires almost no aim.

And class can counter a minisentry. Pyros and Medics destroy mine easily (as do Snipers). Any class can take down a minisentry EASILY and continue with whatever they were doing. Scoots can easily run away from a minisentry in four seconds and continue to pick off other enemies. You're basically saying that if you see a minisentry, you are FORCED to battle with it to the death.
And alternative routes exist. It's not like you are forced to walk down the path the sentry is until it's destroyed.
