WHy rats?

My little brother and I used to share 2 pet rats named Remi and Pringles.
They're really sweet and adorable, they don't deserve the bad rap most people give them. You can actually teach them their name and a few tricks, they're sort of like little dogs..
You basically teach them the same way you teach a dog, tell them the command, hold a treat in front of their face and help them through the motion of what they're supposed to do then give them the treat, they'll catch on. You can check it out on youtube.
But watch out if they're girls, they're really susceptible to breast cancer, both of our rats died from it. :c
They can get pretty stinky, so you have to clean their cage a lot. Don't give them baths in the winter either, for some reason stupid people think its cute to give them a bath... Half the time that just makes the rats cold and it gets sick. They can swim, but don't let them get too cold.
Its a good thing you're getting two of them, they're social and don't do very well on their own. If one of them dies early be sure to buy another rat so the other one doesn't become lonely.

I've had a chinchilla, 2 rats and a million hamsters.

I have had one adorable rat.

In my opinion, they are more smellier then hamsters (so keep them clean :0).
