I was at a writing competition (Power of the Pen) from about 8 to 4 today.
I didn't win any awards, but two people from my school won medals.
In the competition you have to write a creative story based on the prompt. You have 40 minutes to complete your story.
The first prompt was "Divided. Build your story around this keyword." I had trouble coming up with a good story for this. There's basically a judge who gets beat up and it changes his perspective on things.
The second prompt was "Waiting for ___. Fill in the blank.". In this one I think I did better since I was more awake. A guy is waiting to see his girlfriend again and goes on a plane to meet her. The plane crashes into the ocean, and he survives. I was planning to make it longer but I ran out of time.
The third prompt was "Start a question that begins with "Where?". Answer the question in the course of your narrative.". Also a bit difficult. I believe the winning story for this one was about a man with Alzheimer. My story was about a guy trying to find the bathroom xD (probably influenced by my stomach ache at the time).
I won't know what my scores were until Monday. I'll probably me a follow up blog here.
I've also been thinking about making a writing thread in Artistry Orchard. Would anyone be interested?
