You do not play as link. Remember the dude with the green hair in the video you posted? Yeah, that's your character (or the female counterpart). Your character does wear Link's trademark green tunic though.
The game takes place 7 years after ALTTP.
There is no BGM, because the satellaview lets you play your own music while you play (the rom I have is patched, though, with the Alttp music edited in)
Time based events include a mole that appears once a day, shops being open only at certain time, and the game limits you to a certain number of dungeons daily.
The version I have is not the original, it's been patched in order to work offline. It's still the same game, but the timer has been disabled, a "gender-select" and "name input" have been added, as the original used you BSX profile for those, and like I said before the Alttp soundtrack has been added.

P.S. I haven't forgot about your sprite...I'm working on it...
