The idea (the egg) is the same but the discussion is different (egg-lay and chicken). The chicken appeared at a very different time from the egg-layers, which makes for two discussions. You can't discuss the american revolution and the battle at thermopylae in the same thread. Sure, both are about great battles, and the idea is the same overall, but it is DIFFERENT. It is about DIFFERENT subjects (spartans and americans), and so is the egg-layer thing (the chicken and the egg-layer).

Just because the chicken lays egg dosen't mean it represents all the egg-layers of all times, which is what you are doing (generalizing egg-layers and compressing it into only the chicken).

It is the same over-all idea.

We do NOT need two threads to post images, minecraft, art ETC. The core of the original thread is about CHICKENS, the core about the locked thread is about EGGLAYERS. See the difference?

The chicken is not the only thing laying eggs.

Just use the thread to discuss the egg/egglayers thing, it's the same track. We do NOT need two threads to discuss the same idea.

Same discussion? No.
If you use that logic you might as well lock all minecraft threads, since in core they are all about the same thing, Minecraft. And all threads about pictures, because they are the same. All you do is post pictures. And all drawing threads, because all you do is draw.
A chicken is different from the ancient egg-layers. The first question (chicken + egg) can easily be answered, but the second on (egg-layer + egg) is a much more debatable question. DIFFERENT QUESTION, DIFFERENT THREADS

In theory, they are both the same. both animal, and egg. Just use the thread that is already created. It's the same idea.

Hey man, the egg-layer thread was incorrectly locked. They are different threads (There were egg-layers way before the chicken came, so the discussion is valid).
The egg came before the chicken (in form of dinosaur eggs and such), but did the egg or the creature that lay the egg come first? Yeah, two different questions, two different answers.

I wouldn't really recommend mixing up DIMMS (RAM slots) of different sizes. Since you had 4Gb before I assume you have 2x 2Gb RAM slots in dual-channel, but once you add another RAM slot of a different size (1gb) things might start screwing up. People have gotten fires, bluescreens, error, worse performance etc by mixing up dimms.

But if it works for you and you don't see any immediate problems it should be fine, but if you do get any errors know that the RAM is the first thing you should test.
