This is a guide on what to make your house out of.
Dirt: Look... If you can get ANYTHING else, use that. Don't bother with dirt.
Cobblestone: Probably the best material. Smoothstone is just as good, but needs to be smelted.
Mossystone: Look... No. Too rare, and it's exactly the same as cobblestone. Makes for nice floors though.
Wood: A decent building material, it's renewable, AND you don't need any tools. ...
